VFG004061

Help to interpret the results

Three outputs have been generated:
General: this result contains the description and frequency of the selected Virulence factors VFG004061, of which KO pathways and KO modules it is part. Additionally, its occurence in the database is reported.
Proteins list: list of occurences of the Virulence factors within the database. 7 occurences are identified. The table reports the orthogroup, the organism in which each occurrence has been found, and the locus tag enriched by start and stop position, strand, gene name and product.
Clicking on the Ortohgroup name or locus you will be redirected to further info.
Profiles: Phylogenetic tree annotated with
- the presence of the Virulence factor(s) of interest within all the genomes of the database (first column)
- the size of the orthogroup(s) in which the reported Virulence factors has been clustered.
In red the Virulence factors with positive hit(s) in the corresponding genome.
In green the discrepencies between orthogroup clustering and Virulence factors prediction. Green homologs (same orthogroup) are not positive hit(s) for the considered Virulence factors.

Variations within orthogroups may be due to the clustering of multi domain proteins or because of erroneous homolog clustering or Virulence factors prediction.

Description

Protein two-component system response regulator PhoP
VF ID VF0111
Category Regulation
Protein ID WP_001766960
Function Activated by low divalent cations magnesium and calcium levels; control expression of more than 40 genes; required for intracellular survival, cationic antimicrobial peptides (CAMPs) resistance, stimulation of cytokine secretion
Mechanism PhoQ contains distinct binding sites for Mg2+ and Ca2+, and is maximally repressed in the presence of both cations. PhoP-PO4 activates expression of pags (for PhoP-activated genes), including cation transporter, outer membrane proteins, nonspecific acid phosphatase, enzymes important for LPS modification, and pmrAB (a second two-component system that are activated in response to mildly acidic environment. PmrAB leads to an increased substitution of phosphates with 4-amino-4-deoxy-L-arabinose in both the core oligosaccharide and the lipid A components of LPS, these cations stabilize the outer membrane by neutralizing the negative charge of phosphate groups, PmrAB induced modification of LPS composition may be vital to maintenance of outer membrane integrity); represses transcription of prgs (for PhoP-repressed genes) required for epithelial cell invasion, including hilA, prgHIJKorgA operon; regulate acid tolerance response (ATR)
